Weigh In Weight - End of Week 2
OMG now I am SURPRISED - End of Week 3 (2.8 Kilo Loss)
I had another day teaching MHFA so it is always a time where I don’t eat much. Never have and I don’t know why, I just find it easier to graze on nuts and cups of soup etc. rather than a big lunch.
Didn’t do any exercise today as I was knackered from teaching for 2 days, so it was nice just to sit and relax when I got home. Leisa and I did cook dinner together though (you may have seen our video) of capsicum taco boats. So yummy and a better choice as there were no corn tacos involved in the making of our dinner.
Not a lot happening today, I didn’t do any exercise again as I just had so much I needed to get done (excuses I know) so made sure I stuck with my healthy eating. One thing I did do though is something I love to do when I have some me time and that is play the saxophone. It is good for my soul and rejuvenates me again.
I just played for an hour but it is all I need….AAAAHHHHH!!! What do you do for you? Do you have any hobbies that you love to do when you have a bit of spare time? Maybe share your hobbies with us all, I would love to hear what everyone does.
Well today was a good day because it was a short work day due to a planned staff lunch and meeting, as well as a tour of the RAH (so fancy). I walked down to the tram this morning, so I was able to get my exercise in.
The staff lunch was a bit of a challenge as rolls, baguettes, sliders and mini cheesecake desserts were supplied. Oh dear. I am not eating bread or carbs at the moment so that didn’t work too well, so I made the best of it by eating the innards out of the rolls. I looked ridiculous but I wasn’t going to go hungry. So that was my better food choice for the day.
Tuesday night is one of my favourite nights as I get to play tennis with my mates. It is always so much fun catching up with these guys and we generally do a catch up before hand for dinner pre-tennis. After letting my friend Trudy know that I most likely will be a bit picky with my food, due to my better choice journey, she was more than happy to cook something yummy and healthy, as they all were eating a bit better of late too. So, we enjoyed yummy pesto chicken with tossed salad, DELICIOUS, thanks Truds. I did indulge in a pre-game Gin and Tonic which was so yummy, but not the best choice (better than some), however, I have been doing well on my journey, so I thought WHY NOT
This tennis night in particular was an even better night as it was grand final night. Now don’t get too excited, our team the ‘Fuzzy Ball Whackers’ are perpetually down the bottom of the ladder. We play for the social aspect and bit of fitness each week and not for sheep stations so tonight we were playing off for the mugs (equivalent to wooden spoons). The bottom two sides play, and whoever loses wins the mugs, and yep you guessed it, we won the mugs. After the match they put on pizzas and we socialise and drink red wine – yep I had some wine too…..However, I did make the better choice of not having any pizza. Leisa came later on to say hi to the team, so she had my pizza, so that was my Better Choice, amongst some not so better choices with the alcohol.
Today I was a bit stiff and sore from the night before. We had to share courts at tennis, so there was a bit of a break between my second and third game in which I had cooled down. It didn’t do the best for my back and knees and I felt it today. So instead I rested up and didn’t exercise today. Nothing much to report in the way of anything, I stuck to healthier food choices (it’s becoming second nature now) and I rested up my back and knees.
Leisa was home tonight which on Wednesdays I don’t normally see her until around 9:30pm. She is flying out tomorrow to see a sick friend, so I thought I would capitalize on the time we have together tonight and head down to semaphore to help cheer her up. The weather was divine, warm and still. We went for dinner at the Palais, which is always a challenge going out for dinner. We had wings and grilled haloumi (Better choice?.......maybe) and also indulged in 2 vodka, lime and sodas. Definitely the better choice of alcohol, but I shouldn’t really be drinking too many times in the week.
After watching the sun set (beautiful), we went for a walk to find my girl Gelati. Now I must fess up, I did indulge in some gelati as I shared it with Leisa, but for some reason I thought, actually we both thought, that gelati was somehow healthier than ice cream in an attempt to make a better choice. After a few delicious mouthfuls, we thought we should actually google whether our thoughts were correct, and technically it was but not really. It has less milk and less sugar than ice cream (bonus), but it is still not really a better choice. I did feel guilty, but I enjoyed it all the same. This journey is always going to have temptations, and as long as it is an every now and again treat, then why not enjoy it.
Today I walked down to the tram again today to get my daily dose of exercise. It is always nice to go for a morning brisk walk to help wake you up. Not a lot to report with anything else, my food choices were good and did some exercise.
Started today making some yummy breakfast to take to work. I love egg, so I make a quick egg breakfast to take with me to work. Just heat it in the microwave and you’re done, yum yum. See video on how I make my morning egg. So quick and easy, and delicious.
I didn’t do any exercise today, feeling a bit slack, but I have done some during the week so although not my best week of exercise, I still did some. We are all going to have weeks where we may do less towards exercise and diet. Mine was definitely this week but I don’t feel too bad as I have done pretty well with my weight and better choice journey. Will be interesting to see what I weigh in at on Sunday.
Well today is the WEEKEND and a long weekend at that. I haven’t got much to report. Leisa is still away so I have a good opportunity to catch up on uni and business, it was head down bum up for me today. I stopped to watch the AFL grand final and got straight back into it again. Sometimes it gets hard juggling everything I have on my plate, so I cherish the days I have off so I can catch up.
This week was a bit up and down with my better choices, although I am not going to stop living because I am on this journey. It is all about being aware of what decisions you make and is important to remember that you ALWAYS have choices. When you start choosing better alternatives, you actually feel great for doing so. How are you going on your journey?
I would love to hear from you
