√ WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Any interested adult can attend. Please note that the MHFA for the Suicidal Person Course is not a post-vention course and is not recommended for individuals recently bereaved by suicide. The MHFA for the Suicidal Person Course is not a therapy or a support group and it is important that people undertaking the course are feeling relatively robust when they undertake it. Specific post-vention support services can be found at the beyond blue website.
Being a Mental Health First Aider doesn’t qualify you to provide therapy to someone who may need it. They are there to support an individual and help to make their life at work easier. It is important to not be judgemental and to encourage them to access the professional support that is available.

I would absolutely recommend Intrinsic Mind Holistic Health & Wellness Centre!
For 2 reasons - first I went there for a blissful Sunday morning yoga session to help raise money for beyond blue which was an awesome way to start the day in such a beautiful space, feeling revitalised & also helping a great cause which is close to my heart.
Second I attended the Mental Health First Aid course & it was fantastic! Not only was it full of great & useful information, Jen delivered the course in a simple, easy to understand & fun learning environment.
It has helped me with a friend who has reached out to me recently who is suffering from depression & anxiety.
I look forward to doing another course for youth mental health & trying out the Hot Pilates (which I’ve heard is amazing!)
Why Do you Need This and Why Is Now The Right Time For you
Improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies. Take this into your business or workplace knowing that you are well equipped.
Confidence in providing first aid to a person experiencing a mental health problem. You will walk away feeling confident in yourself knowing that you are able to assist whilst having all the resources available to you to provide to others.
Decreases in stigmatising attitudes. The key to reducing the stigma attached to mental illness is education. If we can raise awareness amongst all Australians of the nature of mental health disorders - increasing awareness of the symptoms, causes and treatments of mental illnesses and by promoting the experiences of people whose lives have been affected by mental illness we will go a long way to reducing the negative perception of mental illness.
Having more certified first aiders increases in the amount and type of support provided to others. The resources alone are amazing.
