THE WEEK THAT WAS – Week 2

Sunday – 16th September

Weighed in at 94.2 kg this morning, this is a 2.3kg loss for the first week. Pretty stoked with that. As you can see I am giving you my weigh in weight as at the end of week 2 (wahoo another 1.7 Kilo loss) My measurements in week 1 were relatively unchanged, about 1 cm off all areas, however my waist went down 5cms. I thought there was a measurement error. However, I was informed that because of the lack of carbs for the week, my stomach would have been less bloated, hence the reason for the drop in my waist.

I started the day with some morning yoga at our studio for a Beyond Blue fundraiser which was great fun and good way to start the day. There were delicious homemade cookies, halva and banana bread as well as some delicious Chai Tea for all to share. As much as I wanted to I just had a small taste of the halva and a yummy Chai. Again it is all about making better choices and with the choice put in front of me, the small portion of the halva was the best choice.

Monday – 17th September

Started the morning on the stationary bike. I did half an hour and burnt 333 calories. I’m not a massive fan of this machine; however I know I need to do it every now and again. Felt great for doing it though. My meals were pretty healthy today, didn’t make any poor choices, stayed away from carbs and sugars which was good. Being busy always helps as you don’t think about food as much. I had my final afternoon shift after an 8 day stint so was quite relieved for it to be over.

I have been loving my evening turmeric milk before heading to bed also – milk, turmeric, cinnamon and maple syrup (just a small amount). Great Ayurvedic recipe. Yum Yum.

Tuesday – 18th September

Big day today, we laid my grandmother to rest. 99 years young. What an incredible lady. I had to do the eulogy today which was humbling, but tough. It was good to see everyone today also. Some I haven’t seen in years. After the service we went to lunch at the Holdy down the bay. I did consume a couple of drinks but again made better choices by having vodka, lime and soda – It was a funeral, you gotta have a drink right?....it is always tricky dining out, but Leisa and I chose pretty healthy, a yummy winter salad with chicken and also salmon on couscous. Granted the couscous isn’t the best due to carbs, however, the meal in general was pretty healthy and delicious. I also did indulge in a couple of sweet potato fries – again a little better than regular potato fries, however still not the best.

It was a big day so didn’t stress so much about my little fry indulgence. It is all about making better choices, which I did throughout the lunch service, so I am happy with that. We also had a little poke in the pokies and I won the minor jackpot J I never really gamble, a couple of dollars here or there, so to win $50 paid for most of our lunch. Thank you J

I finished the day off with my team mates and great friends at the tennis where I play weekly. I love the social aspect of the game on Tuesday nights and the guys I play with are awesome. I knew they would cheer me up after the day, and the surely did J we do generally finish the game with a glass of red wine, which once again I did indulge in one. It was a nice way to finish the day that was. No guilt with this

Wednesday – 19th September

Today was my day off of exercise as I was feeling a little sore from the night before. I didn’t feel too guilty for doing so. The food was fairly good; however I was lacking some vegetables today. I could have upped those in my diet but all in all it wasn’t a terrible day.

It was a day off work so I got to run some errands and do a little shopping. Spent a little too much but hey, I don’t do it all the time. I ordered new glasses, got a new back pack and I treated myself to some new runners for a little added motivation (ha ha ha excuse I know). It is important to treat yourself along the way as we all deserve it sometimes J

Thursday – 20th September

Today I started on the stationary bike again, not as motivated today so only did 20 mins on it and burned 210 calories. Diet was pretty good again, however once again not a lot of veggies but high in protein instead. I find I fall into that trap a lot as it is easier to cook an egg or some meat or have some cheese when I don’t feel up to preparing something better. Probably not the best, but not terrible either

Friday – 21st September

I started the day off with a great walk today went for a 4.5 km walk around the neighborhood. It is always good listening to some tunes whilst enjoying some fresh air. Around 6225 steps by 0730 in the morning, I’m happy with that.

My darling Leisa had prepared me some breakfast before she headed off to the studio, yummy omelet. She is such a sweetie J my meals for the rest of the day have been pretty good too, just making better choices all round. I am finding myself making these better choices a lot easier as the days go by which is great. I just have to keep the momentum going.

Saturday – 22nd September

Today is the weekend, YAY. I started on the bike nice and early, only did 20 minutes again but am happy as I have done something 6 days out of the 7 which is much more than what I ever normally do.

I am teaching a Mental Health First Aid course this weekend which is great as I love this course and sharing it with others. I find that I don’t eat as much when I teach, so I take nibbles such as some nuts, dried fruit, cup of soup etc. to get me through the day. Unfortunately, I was so busy that I didn’t even get lunch today but wasn’t even hungry which is good. The biggest challenge I have when teaching is that I put out lollies and mentos on the tables for the participants as well as biscuits for their tea breaks. I find I always sneak one or two during the day but am happy as I didn’t succumb to temptation today.

Leisa and I ventured to the Whole Life expo to check it out as we may put up a stall for next year. Was pretty good. As I didn’t have anything to eat for lunch, I was getting pretty hungry. There weren’t a lot of choices at the expo but ended up having these yummy fritters. It was definitely the better choice from what was available and that is what it is all about 😊

When we got home, I got spoiled with an awesome Thai Yoga Massage from Leisa which I desperately needed. If you haven’t tried one before, don’t wait any longer. It is the best massage you will ever have.

In Conclusion

I am enjoying the journey a bit more this week, poor Leisa had to deal with me big time last week. I am finding that I am partaking in exercise and better choices easier and it no longer feels like a chore. Granted my food could have been a little better, such as more vegetables, but in total this week, with 6 days of some exercise, has been a pretty good success. Thanks for following me on my journey. Stay tuned for next week’s “the week that was”.
